A puppy-filled Valentine’s picnic at Ark centre
CHARTWELL – Visitors got to feel the love at Ark Animal Centre recently when the shelter held a special Valentine's Day puppy picnic for the public to attend.
Ark Animal Centre celebrated the love on 9 February when the shelter hosted a Valentine’s Day puppy picnic in order to raise funds for the organisation.
The event was hosted at the Ark grounds in Chartwell from 10am until 2pm and welcomed members of the public to spend some time playing with the puppies currently being cared for by Ark.
Entrants could donate R20 at the door and were welcome to bring along picnic blankets and food baskets to enjoy while interacting with the animals.
Baked goods were also on sale, and those who donated got a free Brazilian wish ribbon to tie to the Ark fence with their three wishes.
“It’s been quite a nice turnout, we’ve had about 300 people come through in the first two hours,” said Tracy Otto, Ark’s founder.
“We’ve had a relaxed and casual day, some people have brought their own dogs along and have interacted with our dogs.
“I think people have really enjoyed themselves, and it’s lovely because they didn’t just have a picnic, but also got involved with our animals – some have given our dogs walks, while others have given them baths!”
