Police visit local schools

DOUGLASDALE – Officers from the Douglasdale Police Station visited three Joburg north schools on 21 January as part of an ongoing SAPS school-safety programme

On 21 January officers from the Douglasdale Police Station started the year with safety in mind.

“The Douglasdale police visited three schools: The British International Preparatory School, Vuleka Primary School and Northriding Secondary School,” explained Captain Mpho Tshetlhane, spokesperson for the station. “[This was] part of an ongoing South African Police Service school safety programme for 2019.”

The officers interacted with both staff and schoolchildren during this visit.

“The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the relationship between the SAPS and the schools, and also to ensure the safety and security of the learners and teachers,” Tshetlhane said.

One of the stops for the Douglasdale SAPS was North Riding Secondary School, which was founded in 2014 and has about 700 high school children currently enrolled, according to its website.
Another stop for the police of Douglasdale was at the Vuleka Primary School.
