Support a good cause and you could win a car

PAULSHOF – One SA Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind supporter has just won himself a new car, and you could be next.

The SA Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind, for the second year in a row, is raffling off a brand new car to help raise funds for the organisation.

The news was announced on 18 January when the winner of last year’s raffle, Chad Johnson, was officially handed the keys to his brand-new Suzuki Ignis 1.2 GLX Manual, which is worth over R 180 000.

“We’re here today to hand over the keys to Chad, the lucky winner of our 2018 raffle prize,” explained Nadia Sands, head of marketing for the organisation. “As a non-profit organisation, Suzuki sponsored the car for the raffle so that we can raise the money we need to keep doing our work.”

During the year-long raffle, the association managed to raise about R360 000 through raffle ticket sales, which will go towards covering the costs of their operations as well as to extend the puppy block at their premises in Paulshof.

Johnson, who lives in Randburg, was ecstatic with his prize.

“My new car is awesome,” he told the Fourways Review. “This is definitely the biggest thing that I have ever won. It drives pretty well and has that nice new car smell.”

After he received the keys to his Ignis, he had the chance to take it for a few laps around the guide dog field. In the new year, another guide dog supporter could have the same luck.

“Suzuki has also kindly agreed to sponsor us another car, a Suzuki Swift 1.2 GL, for this year’s raffle,” explained Sands.

“Raffle tickets cost R30 each and can be bought from our website. We’re hoping to raise R1 million in 2019.”

She concluded, “I absolutely think everyone needs to enter this year. It’s for a good cause and the guide dogs do such important work.”
