Elderly woman killed in Fourways house fire

A woman, believed to be 70-years-old, sustained fatal injuries in a house fire in Fourways in the early hours of yesterday morning, 27 December.

A statement issued by ER24 spokesperson, Ineke van Huyssteen, read, “When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 2am, they found the fire brigade already in attendance and extinguishing the last of the flames.

“ER24 paramedics were led to the kitchen where they found an elderly woman lying on the ground. Unfortunately, she showed no signs of life and was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.”

Van Huyssteen said, “The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.”
