Help those affected by the Alex fire
SANDTON – Those who would like to assist can drop items off at the Sandton Fire Station.
The Sandton Fire Station has been identified as a drop-off point for essential items for those whose homes were ravaged by a fire in Alexandra.

The fire broke out yesterday afternoon (6 December) and quickly spread through the township. It is estimated that hundreds of shacks were destroyed in the fire, however, the City of Johannesburg’s Emergency Services has yet to release an official number. There were no reported injuries or deaths from the fire.

#AlexFire Collection points will be set up @Gautrain stations. Your support will be highly appreciated. Non-perishable foods, blankets, clothes, water, anything you would like to share with those who lost their homes in the devastating fire. This is the season to be giving.

Those who would like to assist the community can drop off items at the Sandton Fire Station and the Alexandra Fire Station. Gautrain, as well as the Sandton SPCA, also notified community members on their social media pages that they would also act as drop-off points to assist those in need.
The following items are much-needed:
q Food, including tinned food, porridge, maize meal, baby formula and soup
q Toiletries, including soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste and sanitary pads
q School supplies, including stationery and uniforms
q Clothing, including shoes and underwear
q Blankets.
