Divine intervention lends a helping hand to Douglasdale police

PINESLOPES – The Douglasdale police and church leaders are attempting to combat crime and this is how they plan to do so.

In its bid to combat crime in the area, Douglasdale police officers joined forces with church leaders in the Fourways area at God First Church as part of the divine intervention event.

This comes after a request from the National Commissioner of Police for a partnership to be encouraged between churches in the country and the South African Police.

Douglasdale Police Station commander, Brigadier Samuel Thambo said, “This day is marked as a day of deliverance; a day that will bring change to the area. We have now formed a partnership with church leaders in Fourways to help with the fight against crime and to bring law and order to the area.”

He stated that the church leaders will choose people who will help out with trauma counselling, assist with rape victims and offer a prayer for the police who set out to face drug busts.

“I also appreciate the Community Policing Forum and our patrols who contribute to keeping our area safe. We believe that when we work together, this monster we call crime will be taken down.”

The joint partnership will not only involve church leaders with the police and crime issues but will help strengthen and lend a helping hand to those affected by crime in the area.
