Donate-a-Loo Schools Project launches at Paradise Bend Primary School in Diepsloot

In answer to President Ramaphosa and Finance Minister Tito Mboweni’s call for individuals, donors and private companies to fund projects that will bring about the eradication of pit latrine toilets within two years, the Donate-a-Loo Schools Project has been officially launched with the unveiling of six ‘enviro’ loos which have been installed at Paradise Bend Primary School in Diepsloot at a cost of R13 000 per unit.

Helene Bramwell, the woman behind the Donate-a-Loo Schools Project, said her goal is to ‘gift’ toilets to some of the neediest schools in Gauteng until such time as the education department can provide permanent toilets with running water.

Acting deputy principal of Paradise Bend Primary School in Diepsloot, Ms M Maleka, who is ecstatic to have the toilets installed so that the kids no longer have to use the dangerous pit toilets.

This is their first school site but they plan to roll out this initiative to earmarked schools in the Gauteng area as they receive funding.
