Red Ladies host special charity picnic in Glenferness in aid of ReWild

GLENFERNESS – The Red Ladies are a group of seven friends who came together seven years ago to help those in need, and they organise a fundraising event every two or three months in support of a charity in need.

It was a day of fun, fantastic food and sun in aid of a good cause.

On 3 November the Red Ladies non-profit organisation hosted a special charity picnic at the Lonely Oak venue in Glenferness in aid of ReWild, a bat and other small mammal rehabilitation centre in Phalaborwa near the Kruger National Park.

The Red Ladies are a group of seven friends who came together seven years ago to help those in need, and they organise a fundraising event every two or three months in support of a charity in need.

“Today we hosted a gourmet burger picnic here at these beautiful grounds,” said Eve Pennington of the non-profit organisation.

“We expect about 85 people to attend. Set in the beautiful gardens of Lonely Oak, there was plenty of space for the kids to run around, pony rides, volleyball, and swimming for the kids.

“The adults relaxed, ate delicious gourmet burgers, sipped on their choice of cooldrinks, craft beer, gin, champagne or wine and listened to some chilled cool tunes played by four DJs, all of this while supporting a very worthy cause.”

ReWild hand-rears orphaned wildlife and prepares them for release.

The centre also treats injured, sick or poisoned wildlife and return them back into the wild. Donations and sponsorships are always welcome and can make all the difference in a wild animal’s life.
