New substation in the works for Sandton

SANDTON – Construction of the new substation in Sandton is expected to start in 2028.

“These are the are the commercial hub for Gauteng Province as well as to ensure the reliability and security of power supply,” said Sibuyi.

He added that the capacity of the new substation will be 1000MVA and will supply the greater Sandton and Randburg areas.

Sibuyi said construction on the new substation is set to commence around 2028 after the different processes have been followed and will take between 36 to 48 months from the start to complete. “The substation will increase reliability and stability of supply in the area and also catering for the growth of the area in future.”
