Grade 12 Dainfern College learner awarded national blazer

DAINFERN – Dainfern College Grade 12 athlete Taylor Vogt has been awarded her national blazer for her success in the Federation of International Youth Touch Rugby World Cup recently.

Taylor Vogt, in Grade 12 at Dainfern College, was recently awarded her national blazer in assembly.

Taylor played for the South African U20 mixed side in the Federation of International Youth Touch Rugby World Cup which took place in Malaysia from 9 until 11 August.

The 2018 tournament was the first global or international competition for national representative teams of member countries in youth or junior divisions (Tier 1B) event in over a decade.

Despite the severe heat and humidity, the teams rose to the challenge of the high standard of international play.

The South African team played Hong Kong in the 3rd/4th place play-off, beating them 9–7, and the team was awarded bronze medals. Australia and New Zealand finished the tournament in 1st and 2nd places respectively.
