UPDATE: Woman’s body found in Douglasdale, police investigate a case of murder

FOURWAYS – It is stated that the woman might have been on her way to work.

Douglasdale police are investigating a case of murder after the body of an unknown woman in her 30s was discovered this morning 9 October at about 7am next to Jukskei River in Robyn Park.

“It is alleged that the body was discovered by a passer-by who then alerted the police,” said the head of communications at Douglasdale Police Station, Captain Mpho Tshetlhane.

“Preliminary police investigation revealed that the deceased’s throat was severely cut with a sharp object. She was certified dead by the paramedics at the scene.”

Tshetlhane stated that no one has been arrested yet and police investigations are continuing. “The motive behind the incident is not yet known.”

According to the chief operating officer at Emer-G-Med, Jurgen Kotze, they were alerted by members of the community about the body at about 6.45am and their paramedics promptly responded to the scene.

Kotze added that the middle-aged woman appeared to have been a domestic worker.

The police appeal to community members with unaccounted or missing relatives to come forward.
