Security cameras fail to capture theft

On 7 September, an incident of theft was reported. A man had left personal items in a conference room, but when he returned he found that his possessions – a Lenovo laptop, charger, HDM1 adapter, hoodies, shirts and a box screen cleaner – totalling about R9 000 had been taken. Although the building did have security cameras, it later emerged that that section of the building was not visible on the cameras. No suspects have yet been identified.

Car stolen on Main Road

On 9 September the theft of a motor vehicle was reported. A man parked his car on Main Road in Kyalami in order to attend a birthday party in the area. When he returned to the spot at about 11.30am he found his vehicle missing, and a security guard in the area reported seeing two men open the vehicle and drive off with it. The case is under investigation.

Argument over money turns into assault

On 10 September a case of common assault was reported. A woman, her son and her friend were at a Kyalami pub at about 10.30pm when she decided to pay the bill. The son, believing the woman’s friend owed her money, became angry and physically assaulted and strangled the man despite the woman’s attempt to calm the situation. The police urge people to drink responsibly.

Roommate disagreement leads to violence

On 13 September a second case of common assault was reported. A disagreement between two male housemates living in Maple Road escalated to violence when the victim found their shared bathroom door locked. He went to his roommate to get the key, used the facility and fell asleep, only to wake up to the sound of four men forcing open his bedroom door. The men had been sent by the roommate to beat him and remove his property from the house as the roommate did not want the victim to live there anymore.

Partridge home burgled

On 13 September a case of housebreaking and theft was reported. A home on Partridge Street was broken into via a window, where the burglar bars had been broken. The woman who lived there had her microwave, kettle, bed, radio and two small speakers stolen from the property. The suspects are unknown.
