Boston Media House raises funds for guide dogs

PAULSHOF – Students from Boston Media House raised R20 000 to assist the South African Guide-Dogs Association.

Public relations students from Boston Media House in Parkmore handed over a cheque of R20 000 to the South African Guide-Dogs Association in Paulshof following a two-month campaign that formed part of their final year curriculum.

In order to raise funds, the Njayam’ (my friend) Charity Campaign on campus held a series of events on and off campus to raise funds.

Third-year public relations student Amina Williams said, “The support we’ve received from students and corporate organisations has been astounding. It has certainly made all our efforts worthwhile and shows that the SA Guide-Dogs Association is certainly an organisation that touches people’s hearts.”

The campaign combined theory and practical experience to allow students to support an organisation close to their hearts.

The final fundraising initiative was a carnival event held on campus which saw students selling food, playing fun games and having a puppy playdate with some of the guide dog puppy ambassadors who attended the event.

Boston Media House matched the R10 000 raised by students, bumping up the donation to R20 000.
