BREAKING: Independent inquiry finds Ashwin Willemse was unjustified in his live show walk-out

JOBURG – Former Springbok and Lions rugby player, Ashwin Willemse was "unjustified" in his decision to walk out during a live TV show.

SuperSport revealed at a media briefing on 19 June that an independent inquiry found former Springbok rugby player, Ashwin Willemse, was unjustified in his decision to walk out of a live sports show on SuperSport, which he did in May.

Willemse implied on live TV that there was racism in sports broadcasting, and said he refused to work with people who “undermine” others.

He was on a talk show with Naas Botha and Nick Mallet at the time of the walk-off.

Multichoice CEO, Calvo Mawela and Supersport CEO, Gideon Khobane met with media on 19 June, after the scandal saw an independent inquiry set up to investigate the incident.

They said according to the review, there was no racism involved in the incident and Willemse was unjustified in his walking out.

Willemse had apparently refused to provide evidence for his case, and his refusal to cooperate with the inquiry acted against him, Mawela said.

Khobane explained that Willemse still has a contract with SuperSport, but neither him, Mallet nor Botha are scheduled to commentate live this coming weekend.
