South African Police are looking for interns, says Douglasdale Police Station’s spokesperson

The South African Police are looking for young aspiring police officers who are interested in serving and protecting the community from crime and a career in the police service.

This according to the head of communications for the Douglasdale Police Station, Captain Mpho Tshetlhane, who explained that the police service was looking for youths between the ages of 18 to 30.

“We encourage youths who possess leadership skills and regard themselves as honest, focused, highly driven and passionate about policing, to apply. Applicants must, however, ensure that they have never been caught on the wrong side of the law,” she said.

She, however, stressed that those applying should not have criminal records or pending criminal charges as well as being previously served in a government department and subsequently dismissed due to misconduct.

The applicants will be subjected to fitness, psychometric and integrity testing as well as medical evaluations during the recruitment, selection and enlistment process. “Vetting and fingerprint verifications will also be conducted.”

Successful applicants will report for training in January next year for a period of 21 months. Remuneration for the Induction Phase and Basic Training Phase will be a stipend of R4 500.
