Brescia festival success

BRYANSTON – Teams of Brescia House placed in first and second place respectively during the hockey and netball tournament.

 

Brescia House School in Bryanston hosted the Catholic Schools Netball and Hockey Festival on 19 May.

Brescia’s first hockey team won the tournament for the second year in a row. Their netball team was also very competitive during the festival and placed second overall.

This year, 10 schools participated in the open section of the festival while nine participated in the U16 events. Some of the schools who participated included St Teresa’s School, De La Salle Holy Cross College and Sacred Heart College.

The festival opened with a formal welcome by Brescia headmistress Benedikte Nott followed by opening prayers. Each of the team’s captains also signed a code of conduct on behalf of their school and players as a sign of commitment to good sportsmanship.

Helga Bishop, the head of marketing at the school said, “A very big thank you to all the girls and staff who helped on the day to make it such a success.”
