After many months of road upgrades along William Nicol Drive, Future City Fourways (FCF) was delighted to see Witkoppen Clinic and School look cleaner and more accessible for community members.

This is according to FCF’s Advocate Jean Berdou who expressed that the road upgrades around the clinic and school raised the standard of the area. “With these upgrades, it provides safety for the children and parents alike. Safety is an important aspect for everyone using the clinic’s facilities and the school.”

He highlighted that the area has improved noticeably by the upgraded features which contribute to the overall standard of the Fourways area. “The completion of some of the construction around Fourways Mall has added to the relief of motorists who drive in and around the area,” Berdou said.

The upgrades were along William Nicol Drive stretching all the way form the Auto and General Head Office past Dainfern, Leaping Frog, Fourways Crossing, Montecasino, Design Quarter and to the Highway close to the N1. “The road has all its verges and islands cut, drains cleared, refuse picked up, illegal posters removed as well as a few A-Frame advertising trailers which are considered illegal.”

Berdou explained that FCF Traffic Task Team was, however, very busy addressing long-standing concerns from motorists who drive along William Nicol Drive, Witkoppen Road near St Peter’s School and Fourways High School. “We will be meeting with city officials as we will present the input from the community and FCF will present a response in due course.”

He added that hotspots such as the taxi rank and vendors on the corner of William Nicol Drive and Fourways Boulevard and the area next to the Witkoppen Bridge are still challenges but were in the process of being addressed.
