The Yard at Riversands Incubation Hub celebrate World Malaria Day

RIVERSANDS – This is how you should have celebrated World Malaria Day.

In commemoration of World Malaria Day on 25 April, Riversands Incubation Hub‘s, The Yard SMME store which sells local products and fresh brands, showcased the pieces that they manufacture for the Goodbye Malaria organisation.

The Yard and Ingenuite owner, David Openshaw said, “We have been in collaboration with the Goodbye Malaria organisation for the past four years and I am so happy I have been part of this collaboration for this long. We have seen amazing results and with the products sold, we have been able to touch many lives.”

Goodbye Malaria is an initiative started by African entrepreneurs who believe that the generation can create innovative solutions for problems that ultimately change the way the world sees Africa.

It is co-founded by one of Africa’s renowned entrepreneurs, Robbie Brozin who is also the co-founder of the popular restaurant, Nando’s.

Openshaw explained that they manufacture stuffed animals, slippers and clothes for Goodbye Malaria who then sell their products and proceeds go towards the fight against Malaria in African countries.

The Yard store sales representative, Blessing Mtibe stands close to a stand with manufactured pieces for Goodbye Malaria.

The initiative facilitates public-private partnerships, bringing together the private sector, government and the global fund while supporting and catalysing on-the-ground malaria elimination programmes.

“This is why acting against malaria now is critical and I encourage people to come past our store and see the products we manufacture which go towards a great course,” Openshaw said.
