Massive Mandela Masterpiece makes history

The masterpiece was captured and tweeted by the Digital Globe.

An image of the Massive Mandela Masterpiece has been captured by the Digital Globe, which provides earth images, from outer space.

The image was tweeted from the Digital Globe’s Twitter handle at 9.46pm on Freedom Day, but was said to have been captured on 24 April.

It was met with a celebratory tweet from Carolyn Steyn, who is the founder of 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day. The Massive Mandela Masterpiece is also the brainchild of Steyn’s.

The 67 Blankets for Mandela started a few years ago with the aim of knitting blankets in honour of the number of years that Mandela spent in service of his country.
