Road upgrades on William Nicol Drive, how far they have come

With the countless construction happening in the area, residents can rest assured that William Nicol Drive upgrades close to Witkoppen Primary School, Leaping Frog and Uranium Road are nearing the completion phase.

Ward 94 councillor, David Foley stated, “I am very happy that both roads are nearing completion as the continued construction has impacted the electricity supply to the traffic lights and that has severely impacted the motorists along this routes.”

Foley explained that adding to the frustration of non-working traffic lights were the taxis drivers who have been driving on the pedestrian/cycling lanes. “The reckless driving of these taxi drivers was putting people in harm’s way, however, I am grateful and thankful to the Metro police for their swift action of impounding the vehicles of the transgressors these last couple of weeks.”

He further explained that Uranium Road, however, still required widening at the shopping centre but was still being completed as an extension of the parking at the back of the shopping centre.
