Remain alert and be aware of crime while shopping these Easter holidays

FOURWAYS – Read where the Douglasdale police recently held a crime awareness campaign.

The Douglasdale police have recently been on a crime awareness campaign to alert community members of the criminal activities surrounding the area ahead of the Easter holidays.

As part of their campaign, the police held an Awareness Morning at Fourways Gardens Shopping Centre as pamphlets were distributed to shoppers.

The head of communications for the Douglasdale Police Station, Captain Mpho Tshetlhane stated that the awareness campaign was to inform members of the public and car park security guards about the importance of always being aware of criminal activities at shopping centres and malls during this holiday frenzy.

“Us being here at the shopping centre is to alert community members to be vigilant this Easter holiday season, whether at home or when doing their shopping,” Tshetlhane said. “Community members need to ensure that they practice safety when shopping as car-jamming is still an issue at shopping centres and malls.”

The campaign was to also encourage residents to join Community Policing Forum structures. “If community members and the police come together, I believe that we will be able to combat crime in the area.”
