Petroleum engineering student in need of funds to complete studies

FOURWAYS – Read how you can help a Petroleum Engineering student complete his studies.

 

Petroleum Engineering student, Lwazi Chuma has been standing in the middle traffic at the intersection of William Nicol Drive and Sunset Boulevard for the past few weeks holding up a piece of cardboard appealing for funds so that he can further his studies.

Chuma explained, “I felt that if I stand here in traffic with a note pleading for help, someone will eventually help.”

He added that after consultation with an engineering Professor at Wits University, it was recommended that he need to further his studies.

“If I have hopes of securing a job in South Africa, I need to complete my studies. I entered for a post-graduate diploma in chemical engineering and was accepted into the programme for this year, Chuma said.

He further added that he raised the funds to enroll for this programme but only managed to pay for the Wits compulsory medical aid.

“I am looking for a job in my preferred industry, petroleum, and would appreciate an opportunity to prove my ability and willingness within a company. My dream is still to further my studies, as Benjamin Franklin stated that ‘investment in knowledge pays the best interest’,” Chuma said.

He explained that he was in need of R70 000 to pay the balance of his fees.
