Domestic classes continue at Hirsch’s Fourways

FOURWAYS – Domestic workers have even more to learn about thanks to Hirsch's Fourways. Read more here.

On 17 February Hirsch’s Fourways launched a pilot initiative.

The store added an additional meeting for the domestic workers due to several requests by ladies wanting to participate in the regular weekly domestic classes, but unable to due to work constraints, and started a cooking and computer class.

“We had the kind assistance of Adele Guthrie from Meet Your Maid assisting us and we started the series with a talk and demo styled around the Palio or Caveman Diet,” said Sharron Dingle, public relations officer for the store.

“This is probably the most expensive diet around. We got the do’s and don’ts and discussed how it could be applied and why.

“We then proceeded to make baked eggs and ham cups. The ladies were given handouts with notes as well as the recipe. Whilst this was taking place we ran a basic computer course which one of our business network ladies, Jackie Scott-Thomas from Comp-u-Train, presented.”

Domestics learned some new skills which they can now add to their CV.

Scott-Thomas kindly gave the class a special price for the course which just covered her stationery and printing. Everyone got to have a hands-on experience with a computer and were typing away almost immediately. They each got a certificate from Comp-u-Train as well for their CVs.
