If you made a point of collecting water, note the drive is on hold

FOURWAYS – Read what Kelly-Ann van der Meer of One Small Act of Kindness Facebook page has to say about the water drive.

The Fourways and Joburg communities have been behind Kelly-Ann van der Meer’s One Small Act of Kindness Facebook campaign to collect water for animal shelters in Cape Town.

“Last week, two trucks were sent to Cape Town to deliver 69 tonnes of donated water bottles to the various animal shelters,” she said.

“Another truck which will collect 22 tonnes of water bottles will be sent out this week.

“We are grateful and thankful for all who helped us with donating water to the various animal shelters. However, we plan to take a break as we do not want to overuse the Gift of the Givers, [who are collecting water for residents of the Western Cape].”

She added that another reason for putting the initiative on hold was due to the lack of storage space and also to give community members a chance to collect empty bottles for refilling. “We encourage community members to collect water bottles so that when the next drive comes there will be bottles in place.”
