Crawford Lonehill Pre-primary embarked on a drive called ‘The Happy Feet Project’ on 13 November last year which saw schoolchildren of Riversands Primary School receive brand new school shoes.
The motive behind the project was to raise 274 pairs of brand new school shoes for this year’s registered Grade 1 and Grade 2 schoolchildren of the primary school.
The mother of two pupils at Crawford Lonehill Pre-primary School, Terisa Hsu-Lee said, “The initiative was a great success with the support and involvement of the Crawford school staff, parents as well as their friends and family.”
Hsu-Lee added that on 1 December last year, Crawford Lonehill Pre-Primary managed to reach their goal of 274 pairs of shoes.
“Crawford moms spent the morning of breakup day on 6 December last year wrapping and personalising each pair of shoes from the sponsor to the receiver, as well as labelling [the] shoes with the receiving child’s name,” she said.
Hsu-Lee said on 22 January at 8.30am volunteer moms together with the pre-primary school principal Caroline Miller and deputy principal Jacqui Smallbone, loaded all the brand new school shoes into five vehicles.
“The Crawford Lonehill team drove in convoy to deliver the wonderful gifts to the children of Riversands Primary,” she said.
Pre-primary school principal Caroline Miller said the Happy Feet Project was a great success, and it was beautiful to witness the little faces light up during the handover.
