10-year imprisonment for gardener and accomplice

FOURWAYS – Gardener and accomplice sentenced to 10 years for Norscot house robbery.

A gardener and his accomplice have been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for a house robbery that took place in Norscot on 11 September, last year.

The sentence came after the gardener, Beza Harris, and co-accused, Oscar Ncube, took part in the planning and execution of the house robbery where Harris was employed as a gardener.

In a statement issued by Captain Mpho Tshetlhane, it is reported that Harris confessed to having opened the garage door for his accomplices to enter the house. The accomplices then pointed a firearm at Harris and the domestic worker and forced them into their employer’s office where the domestic worker was tied up with electrical wire.

Harris’ accomplices ransacked the house and took coins worth R5 000, house keys and a remote control before fleeing in a bakkie. The domestic worker alerted the employer who then called the police.

Captain Mpho Tshetlhane said that an intensive police investigation headed by Sergeant Tankiso Madlebe led to two different houses belonging to the suspects in Diepsloot where some of the coins were recovered.

Harris and Ncube were sentenced to 10 year’s imprisonment for possession of suspected stolen property and illegal immigration.

“Their sentences will run concurrently and they will be deported back to their countries immediately after serving their sentences,” said Tshetlhane.
