What to do if rocks are thrown at your vehicle

JOBURG – Police urge motorists who have rocks thrown at them not to stop until they reach a place of safety.

The recent surge in incidents involving rocks being thrown at vehicles has not only forced motorists to stay vigilant on the road but has also pushed the South African Police Service to extend their advice to motorists who may fall victim.

It is believed that the rocks thrown at vehicles are used as a tactic to rob motorists of their personal belongings when they stop to check their vehicles for damages.

The police have urged motorists who have rocks thrown at them not to stop until they reach a place of safety, even if they sustain damage or injury.

The advice given by the police has been shared in the interest of and for the safety of the community and has been supported by Future City Fourways (FCF).

Below are some of the tips the police have issued:

  1. Do not stop until you reach a place of safety
  2. Make a note of the location
  3. Notify the police and emergency services as quickly as possible.
