Ward 132 councillor, Annette Deppe talks reason behind newly laid pavement in Kyalami

KYALAMI – Ward 132 councillor, Annette Deppe stated that the reason behind the pavement was because of taxis drivers and lawless motorists performing illegal U-turns on the road.

After numerous complaints about taxi drivers carrying out illegal U-turns on Main Road and the R55 in Kyalami, Ward 132 councillor, Annette Deppe explained the importance behind laying a new pavement, which separates the road lanes.

“We requested the Provincial Roads Department to do this because the taxis and many lawless motorists do illegal U-turns on a blind rise,” Deppe explained.

She added that the actions of those motorists were considered dangerous while making the road quite dangerous to drive on. “It is very unfortunate that it has to come to this, now we need to have a pavement which separates the two lanes in order for the road to be safe,” Deppe explained.

Deppe mentioned that she would like to see many things change on the road in the area.

“What can change in the area are small things which can make a difference to our traffic congestion. Some intersections that can be made bigger and some new turning lanes. Taxi organisations must take responsibility for their drivers and they also need to adhere to the bylaws which will lead to a safer road,” Deppe concluded.
