State of Safety Report launched

JOBURG – The Minister of transport officially launched the State of Safety Report on 20 November.

The minister of transport, Joe Maswanganyi launched the 2016/17 State of Safety Report at Melrose Arch, Johannesburg.

The launch provided a comprehensive overview of South Africa’s state of rail safety which is published annually by the Railway Safety Regulator.

The report measures the pulse of railway safety in South Africa and provides a foundation for research into new solutions that will enable operators to accurately address identified areas of risk that impede railway safety.

The report was launched under the theme, All aboard: A journey to zero occurrences.

At the launch, rail experts, industry captains and stakeholders deliberated on possible solutions to improve safety and committed to a course of action.

The launch took place on 20 November from 7am until 11.30am at The Venue at Melrose Arch.
