Man seriously injured when knocked off bicycle on Cedar Road

It is alleged a taxi knocked the man off his bicycle before driving into a ditch.

A man, believed to be in his 30s, was left seriously injured on Saturday morning, 23 September, when he was knocked off his bicycle, allegedly by a taxi, on Cedar Road in Fourways.

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, said ER24 paramedics, along with Life Healthcare, arrived on the scene to find the man lying on the sidewalk. The taxi had come to a stop some distance away in a ditch, he said.

“Paramedics quickly assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and was in a serious condition,” said Meiring.

“The man was treated for his injuries and provided with pain-relief medication by the advanced life support paramedics.”

He was then transported to Life Fourways Hospital for further treatment.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
