Sunninghill cares for Allanridge

Together with the Sunninghill community, Chilli Lane Shopping Centre collected over 20 large bags of sanitary towels during its Keep a Girl in School campaign during Women’s Month.
The sanitary towels were handed over to Allanridge Secondary School in Midrand on 1 September.
Kim Dawson, marketing manager of Chilli Lane Centre said, “Their aim going forward is to try and help to reduce the high number of school absentees and dropouts due to menstrual related challenges.”
According to recent independent studies, many girls from previously disadvantaged homes miss more than 50 days of school in a year, explained Dawson.
Centre management decided to challenge their shoppers and collected over 1 000 packets of sanitary towels for these young women.
Tumisho Setati, head of department for life orientation from Allanridge Secondary School, received the donations on behalf of the school and stated that they were overwhelmed by the gesture and were extremely grateful for the kindness received from the community.

Sydney Masonte, chairperson of the school governing body said that he looked forward to many more continued relationships with the centre.
