ROADWORKS: Plans for Uranium Road in Fourways are revealed

FOURWAYS – Future City Fourways heard your questions regarding Uranium Road, and set about finding answers. Read what they found out here.

After Future City Fourways (FCF) received a number of queries from residents regarding what is happening on Uranium Road, they set about trying to get answers.

The road, which runs between William Nicol Drive and Cedar Road in the Fourways and Dainfern areas, has been one of the main areas where road construction has been taking place since the beginning of the year.

The works being undertaken are aimed at widening the single lane route to better support the increase of traffic in the area over the last few years.

According to a post uploaded onto the FCF Facebook group, after the non-profit organisation had been approached repeatedly by people in the area, it contacted Jodan Construction, the company responsible for the roadworks in the area.

Future City Fourways was able to obtain an image of the drawings of what exactly is planned for the road, which is available for public viewing on FCF’s Facebook page.

“Depending on various factors, it is hoped to have the works [on Uranium Road] completed by end November 2017 to early 2018,” the social media post explained.

“The widening will result in a reduction of parking in the front of the existing shopping centre and the end result will be effectively two lanes in each direction between William Nicol and Cedar.”
