Mrs Johannesburg joins the fun on Tekkie Tax Day

FOURWAYS – Mrs Johannesburg takes Tekkie Tax day by storm.

Mrs Johannesburg 2017 Jaci Tibbit visited various venues on 26 May to support the Tekkie Tax initiative.

Tekkie Tax Day accommodates different sectors including animals, bringing hope, children, people with disabilities and education. Last year Tekkie Tax Day raised R8.4 million for various sectors.

The staff of Life Fourways Hospital and Life Riverfield Lodge held a competition to see who could design the ‘funkiest tekkie’ for Tekkie Tax Day. The staff all enjoyed the special day with Tibbit, who had to decide who the winner was.

Tibbit also visited some hospital patients at Life Riverdale Lodge and said she felt inspired all over again. “By paying Tekkie Tax, you do not donate to Tekkie Tax, but through them. Depending on where your heart lies – you choose the sector that you are passionate about,” said Tibbit.

She thanked all the companies and schools that participated in Tekkie Tax Day.

“They arrived at work and school with their stickers, shoelaces and their funkiest tekkies to make a difference.” Tibbit thanked the community for supporting this initiative and for supporting the education sector by purchasing a sticker for R10 or shoelaces for R35.

“I sold over 2 000 stickers and over 200 funky shoelaces. I also collected old children’s shoes that I will donate to Umfundo Educare in Diepsloot for the kiddies. If we are not living our lives to make someone else’s life better, then we are not really living at all.”

Tibbit is a representative for the Role Models Foundation which focuses on the education sector.
