Four-legged superheroes don their capes for a good cause at Delta Park

FOURWAYS – The Dogs Unite Walk was a complete success. Find out how the event went here.

The first-ever Dogs Unite Walk was held in South Africa and more than 400 dog owners from Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban supported the cause.

On 23 April, hundreds of dogs wearing red superhero capes descended on Delta Park.

All the funds raised by this event went towards the training of working guide dogs.

“Canines can become friends, companions, confidants and saviours to many people. People who are visually impaired experience this first hand. Because of guide dogs, visually impaired people can live a full life with dignity and feel a sense of security that would not have been there if it wasn’t for their guide dogs. Guide dogs provide mobility to their owners and self-sustainability,” said Juliette Powell, head of marketing at the SA Guide Dog Association for the Blind.

“Dogs Unite Walk aims to bring together dogs of all shapes and sizes in honour of guide dogs who are heroes to their owners every day.”

Powel was excited to add that the Dogs Unite walk would become an annual event due to all the positive feedback.

“Thank you to all who came out and supported this wonderful initiative,” concluded Powell.

The association thanked Martin & Martin, Essilor, Rogz, Regal Pet Health, Iceman, Pegasus Homeopathic Products, Petsure and Calderma Sunscreen for making the day possible.
