Cycling fundraiser to support the fight against rhino poaching in South Africa
FOURWAYS – Four veterinarians decided that they wanted to make a huge difference in the fight against rhino poaching and they did. Read more about their story here.
Chipembere Rhino Foundation (CRF) is a foundation that combats rhino poaching in South Africa.
To support this cause four veterinarians entered the joBerg2c mountain bike challenge. They are Robin Beetge from Johannesburg, riding partner Brendan Tindall from Plettenberg Bay, Paul Meiring from Companion Care in Chesterfield in the United Kingdom (UK) and Jason Davidson of Companion Care in Derby, also from the UK.
They all decided to support this cause and battled extreme circumstances during the nine-day, 900-kilometer challenge to raise funds to save the future of rhinos. The team managed to raise R110 898.17 for the cause.
“It was an awesome journey and we are delighted that we could raise so much for CRF,” said Tindall.
Tindall and Beetge placed in the top 30 per cent with Davidson and Meiring close on their heels. “Let me tell you that was hard,” commented Davidson. He explained that the challenge consisted of 250 kilometres of technical single track riding and only about 10 kilometres of riding in tarred roads.
