The Fourways High School had their annual tour to Margate and netball first team captain Kendall Gow (17) shared the experience from her and her team mate’s points of view. From 6 April to 11 April the netball girls had a ball, surrounded by their favourite people.

“Being a final year pupil in high school, this tour marked my last school tour ever and I can say with full confidence that it was by far the best one. The talent, dedication and hard work could be seen by our first team netball winning four out of our five games. The helpful lessons and skills learnt over a period of five days were astounding,” explained Kendall.

“I can speak for every player when I say that we carried the school’s badge with pride and honour and feel beyond privileged to have been able to have gone on such an incredibly memorable tour. A special thanks to our coaches Mrs Lize Clay and Mr John Ramphele for absolutely everything, it would have been impossible without you,” said the grateful youngster.

Kendall spoke about the unforgettable memories that they made, from walking on the beach like true ‘Vaalies’ (regardless of the rainy weather) and chatting for hours, while eating Easter eggs. She spoke about their crazy adventures through the dark and scary bushes when they took the wrong road to the beach.

The first netball team spent the days playing the sport that they love and convinced coach Ramphele that there was a shark in the sea water, which made him jump about three metres high.

“The support and spirit between first team netball and rugby were unbelievable. It was hard not to smile on the court with a sideline of rugby players screaming for you to tackle your opponent or advising you on better methods to ‘shoot correctly’. Thanks guys, now we know,” concluded the happy Kendall.
