The legacy of Ahmed Mohamed Kathrada is left behind for the youth and women of South Africa

FOURWAYS – Ahmed Mohamed Kathrada leaves a golden legacy behind.

The iconic and highly-acclaimed Ahmed Mohamed Kathrada recently passed away. His way of living and his way of motivating others was loved by many who followed this esteemed leader.

Democratic Alliance’s Ward 96 councillor Sean Kreusch, who is very involved in the Diepsloot community said, “The passing of Ahmed Kathrada is a blow to us all and his loss will be felt by South Africans of all walks of life.

“His loss will be deeply felt within the Diepsloot community as a champion of human rights as well as non-racialism. His voice of conscience will be sorely missed.”

Kathrada has been an inspiration to many people in the community and lived an activist’s lifestyle, sharing his views with the youth of the nation, empowering them with knowledge.

He shared many of his life experiences with the children of the country. Mpumi Mndaweni, spokesperson and senior social worker for the National Children and Violence Trust said, “He has left a good legacy behind for the youth of the country, especially in communities like Diepsloot, where there are many underprivileged children.”

Mndaweni continued that in advocating for human rights and especially the rights of children, Kathrada made it possible for organisations such as theirs to go out and work for the rights of women and children and bring about the knowledge of those rights within underprivileged communities.

“What he has achieved as a person, for his family and done for our nation is immeasurable. In mourning of his passing, we must also celebrate his achievements.

“The youth of today must always remember and look up to Kathrada’s selfless sacrifices because that is what it takes to build a great nation,” said Sun.
