Tips to avoid car jamming in the Fourways area

With the rise of car jamming in Fourways, the head of communications for the Douglasdale Police Station, Captain Mpho Kgaosane, has provided safety tips for motorists to use to avoid becoming a victim.

According to Kgaosane it is very crucial to:

  • Park your car in a place where there is security video surveillance
  • Before leaving the vehicle, physically make sure all windows and doors are locked
  • Do not just activate your car alarm and walk away, double check if your car is securely locked
  • Do not leave valuables in your car visible to criminals, make sure all valuable items are safely hidden
  • If you are going to leave your car unattended, make sure you park in a busy public space
  • When you park your vehicle on your property make sure that it is securely locked
  • Always be alert of any suspicious activity in your neighbourhood.

“Community members should work hand in hand with the police in the fight against crime and by working together we believe that we can eradicate crime in the area.
