Break-in at Mogoeng’s offices in Noordwyk
MIDRAND – The police have confirmed that a burglary took place at the Office of the Chief Justice, and computers and monitors were stolen.
Midrand police have confirmed that the Office of the Chief Justice (OCJ) Mogoeng Mogoeng was robbed in the early hours of 18 March at about 2.48am in Noordwyk, Midrand.
The Midrand Police Station corporate communications officer Warrant Mmakgomo Semono said this is a high profile case and cannot divulge too much information about it but revealed that computers and monitors were stolen during the break-in.
Spokesperson for the Chief Justice Nathi Mncube, said 15 computers containing the personal information of 250 judges were taken.
“A break-in has occurred in the Office of the Chief Justice located in Midrand, Johannesburg. The stolen computers contain important information about Judges and officials of the OCJ and constitute a huge setback for the entire administration,” said Mncube.
Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng said this must be viewed in a very serious light and urged the police to do everything in their power to ensure that the culprits are brought to book.
Semono said investigations are underway and more information will be revealed as the investigations continue.
