After a tense protest by Diepsloot residents on 13 March, the chief whip of the Council, Kevin Wax paid a visit to the frustrated community members who were protesting against the local ward councillor for alleged corruption.
According to Wax, the councillor was accused of allegedly selling jobs and threatening community members. He added that the memorandum he received from the community members, calls for the suspension of the ward councillor, pending an investigation.

While addressing the frustrated community members, Wax assured the community that the matter would be dealt with speedily and he invited the community to come forward with any evidence of wrong doing.
“Where criminal charges are pursued through the police, the community should work with them in their efforts to conduct a full investigation,” Wax explained, who urged the community to be patient while the police and the City investigate the allegations. “The City will liaise with the community leadership to find a resolution to these issues,” Wax concluded.
