FOURWAYS – Highjacking is becoming a real problem in our community. Read more.

David Bakker, the owner of a white 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Vogue with a black roof, registration number, CY73NDGP is in an unfortunate position after two of his employees found themselves in the middle of a hijacking at the Fourways Mall Sasol garage.

According to Bakker, his employees were followed from the Montecasino parking lot on Friday, 17 February. “The perps were admiring the car and even pointing at it,” said Bakker.

When his employees stopped at the garage, four suspects with balaclavas pointed a pistol at them and told them to ‘voetsek’. The vehicle, money and cellphones were stolen, but fortunately, no harm was done to any of the victims.

The suspects were driving a new BMW X5 with NW (North West) plates, added the frustrated owner.

“A case has been opened and is still under investigation. No arrests have been made yet,” said Captain Mpho Kgasoane, spokesperson for Douglasdale Police Station.
