Animal Ark needs your help
CHARTWELL – Animal Ark Rescue Centre is appealing to the community to help after its shelter received a huge influx of dogs and puppies. Find out what you can do here.
The Animal Ark Rescue Centre is appealing to the Fourways community for help in the form of newspapers, tinned puppy food and donations towards vet bills after the shelter experienced an influx of dogs.
“Ark has taken in 103 dogs and pups [in January] alone,” explained Candice Eilertsen of the shelter. According to her, three of the dogs are pregnant.
“This means we will soon have more pups.”

The centre’s vet bills are in the region of R70 000 for the month of January.
“If anyone would like to donate newspaper or tinned food we can arrange pick-up or drop-off points in Randburg, Blairgowrie, Linden, Parkhurst and Ferndale; and for large donations outside these areas, pick-up arrangements can be made.”
Alternatively, community members can drop off the goods at the Animal Ark premises in Chartwell when the centre is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and both Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 3pm.
If community members would like to organise a pick-up or drop-off of newspapers and food donations, they can contact Louise on 074 101 7757.
If they would like to contribute financially, EFT payments are welcome.
