Expensive surgery threatens dog’s life

BRYANSTON – Rescued pup faces a terrible fate.

On Aspen Street in Bryanston, a rescued 11-month-old Boerboel/mastiff-cross, named Hugo, was run over by a silver Mini Cooper.

The woman driving the Mini Cooper did the right thing. “[She] waited for us to get Hugo into the car, informed Kayleigh Elliott, a concerned friend of the dog’s owner.

“We didn’t have our phones so we couldn’t get her contact details, she said that we should let her know how the dog is doing.”

Hugo is in dire need of medical attention as he sustained a broken rib, leg and hip. The dog needs to undergo surgery which a reputable vet said would cost in the region of R20 000. If Hugo does not have the operation, the rescued pup will have to be euthanised.
