Support a worthy cause

JOBURG – A21 raises awareness during National Slavery and Human Trafficking prevention month.

JOBURG – With this month being national Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, which is aimed at creating awareness in the country, volunteer Mandy Murugan said her Jozi A-team supports work done by A21 – the organisation that raises awareness on a global scale.

“During January and the months to come, our aim is to help South Africans understand that human trafficking is a crime. We also want people to be aware that it exists in our country and how to report this if you or someone else you know is trapped.”

She said the focus this year is to raise awareness in Joburg, and there are plans to visit schools, faith-based organisations and offices to educate communities.

“A good way to support the work that A21 does in South Africa would be to support Katie Modrau when she participates in the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon on 15 April. She will compete in a half marathon run to raise funds for our organisations. Funds will be used to assist human trafficking victims,” said Murugan.
