PARKTOWN – Uber vehicle with mother and daughters targeted for hijacking. Read more here.

Residents of Cedar Creek Estate were robbed of their personal possessions and luggage when they were stopped by three suspects at gunpoint outside the estate’s main gate after returning from Lanseria Airport.

The suspects allegedly followed the Uber vehicle from the airport on the night of 4 January at about 9pm.
One of the suspects allegedly demanded the car keys from the driver and ordered him to open the boot of the vehicle, thereafter stealing the victims’ luggage.

The second suspect allegedly held the victims, a mother and her two daughters, at gunpoint, and the third suspect headed for the estate’s security guardhouse.
The officers inside the estate reacted quickly and pushed the panic buttons to alert authorities, as well as the duty control room in Robertville. Unfortunately, the suspects fled the scene before police officers arrived on the scene.

According to the estate manager, the three suspects knew exactly what needed to be done and everything happened in about two minutes. “They were very prepared and professional.” He added that, fortunately, no one was harmed during the incident and security followed the correct protocol.
