Policemen and women enjoy a last treat

FOURWAYS – Top Cop breakfast held in Dainfern.

Men and women in blue enjoyed a Top Cop breakfast for the last time this year at Auto & General’s head office in Dainfern on 1 December.

The breakfast ceremony, all thanks to Fourways Review and the Douglasdale Community Policing Forum (CPF) in partnership with Auto & General, was held to honour and acknowledge the police officers of Douglasdale Police Station.

The winner for the month of November– who was voted for  30 000 times by community members – was best Vispol (external) award nominee, Constable Leonard Mabusha. “This win came by surprise and it really feels good to [win] as it motivates me that my colleagues can see and acknowledge my efforts to help out in the community,” he said.

Mabusha added that he planned to share the R3 000 award money with his colleagues. “It is all about team building, plus it will serve as a good Christmas gift.” Tom Creamer, chief executive officer of Auto & General said, “Auto & General is proud to sponsor the Top Cop Awards. We applaud these brave men and women for all that they do to keep our community safe.”

Chairperson of the forum, Jean Berdou added that keeping community members safe from any criminal activity can be a difficult role to play. “With these breakfast ceremonies, we aim to honour the policemen and women who put their lives on the line on a daily basis,” he said.

“On behalf of the community, we would like to say that we really appreciate the efforts of the men and women in blue as well as their endeavours to protect and serve the community.”
