CLEVELAND – Cleveland police are looking for this man in connection with house robbery

Cleveland police are looking for a suspect in connection with a house robbery on Beryl Street in Bruma on 29 April this year.

According to Cleveland police spokesperson, Constable Mpho Mashakane, the complainant was at her workplace when she heard someone knocking at the gate. She went to check who it was and saw two men. “The men told her that they had come to fix the ceiling. The complainant told them that her boss never mentioned that there were people coming to fix the ceiling,” said Mashakane.

One of the suspects then took out a firearm and instructed the complainant to open the gate. “They put their hands through the burglar [gate] and grabbed the keys from her. They asked her where the safe was. She said she didn’t know. They took her to the bar room and locked her inside,” said Mashakane.

The two suspects ransacked the house, damaged the cupboards and took jewellery as well as the gate motor. “They took items valued at R100 000 and fled the scene. The police were called and a case was opened,” said Mashakane.

The complainant could only remember the face of the one suspect shown in the identikit picture. The suspect is a white male with a fair complexion who is of medium height with a slender build.
