BREAKING NEWS: Bomb threat at Lonehill Shopping centre

LONEHILL - Another bomb threat has been reported at the Lonehill Shopping Centre.

Another bomb threat has been reported in the Lonehill area.

Douglasdale Chairperson,Jean Berdou has confirmed that police officials are responding to a bomb threat at the Lonehill Shopping Centre.

Berdou said, “A full evacuation is taking place at the centre. Businesses are not operational at the moment. We are tired of these threats in our area and we demand that the police find the culprits behind these threats.”

He added that although these threats waste police resources, they have no option but to respond and make sure that these are not real threats.

Michelle Townsend, property portfolio manager for the Tintswalo Property Group, said, “We received an anonymous email this morning and we felt that the police should look into the matter. The police will get their K-9 squad to sweep the centre for a bomb. It appears that it could be another hoax, but we cannot take any chances in this situation.”

She added, “We do not know why these threats are being made. It gets frustrating for management and business owners. Once all is checked and has been declared, the roads will be reopened and the shops will be operational again.”

Berdou said, “The police need to prioritise the search for the people or person behind these threats as their top priority.”

Roads leading to the mall has since been closed to deal with the threat. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
