Keeping more than just humans safe

WATERFALL - 7Arrows Security has added a stray dog they found to their K9 unit.

While on a routine site visit late last year, senior management of 7 Arrows Security came across a boerboel mixed breed male roaming around Waterfall Cemetery.

The dog was emaciated, starving and lost. Officers from 7 Arrows immediately responded by taking him to the vet. It is suspected the dog was hit by a car, breaking his pelvis in three different places. He had also sustained a leg injury and was extremely dehydrated.

“Veterinarian, Denver Mudie at Manorswood Vet, attended to the dog passionately; he not only took away his pain but also helped give him a chance at a better life,” said Victor Tortora, chief executive officer of 7Arrows Security.

“Denver also helped with reduced costs for the vet bills, which undoubtedly piled up, rather quickly,” he continued. After canvassing the surrounding areas for any leads as to the whereabouts of the dog’s owners, it became evident that he was not going to be claimed. The 7 Arrows family decided to welcome him into their company, fittingly naming him, Arrow.

Once Arrow was stable enough to be discharged, the 7Arrows team settled him into his new home at Waterfall Estate Dog Kennels and it is here where Arrow spent most of his days recovering and getting strong again. In no time he gained weight and made himself at home with his new life as a K9 patrol officer. He is now a well-trained, friendly, patrol dog, thriving in his new surroundings.

Arrow especially has a soft spot for Tortora, who played an integral role in saving him from a terrible fate. Regional manager, Hannes Strydom and senior dog handler, Robert Maseko, work with Arrow who is a spirited dog who gives back with bucket-loads of slobbery kisses and true affection.

“Arrow is an amazing dog who has shown tremendous courage, strength and forgiveness – which we can all learn something from,” said Tortora.

It is vital, not only for your own personal security but for your animals’ safety, to lock and secure your property’s gates. It is also important to have ID tags on pets for ease of identification.
