Rada’s music programme unearthed

FOURWAYS – RADA Unearthed launches its musical talents.

Rada, the organisation which aims to assist people affected by rape, drugs, alcohol and abuse, is now looking to get people in the music industry to assist the organisation with helping people in need.

Rada’s founder, JP Nobrega, has teamed up with a number of exciting local musical acts to form another facet of the organisation called Rada Unearthed – a project intended to create songs which empower those affected.

Ashlinn Gray, Prime Circle, Sevven, Naming James, Lelo Ramasimong, Lira, Howie Combrink and Caroline Borole are some of the talents who have teamed up with Nobrega to create some powerful jams with the musical leg of the company.

Rada Unearthed provides a complete musical solution to artists who are in need of studio time, producers, marketing and access to new gigs as their musical careers progress, as well as encourages them to create songs which uplift the community.

Speaking at the official launch of the project at Parkers Comedy and Jive in Montecasino, host of the event and presenter of Carte Blanche, Derek Watts, talked about his journey with the organisation. “I met John Paul Nobrega a few years ago and since then there has been an incredible amount of progress.

“This guy has so much vision and passion and yet a lot of people have these dreams that don’t come to reality, but for him, an extraordinary amount has been accomplished in a short time.”

Also at the launch of the project was 947 radio station’s Anele Mdoda who, in her line of work, has learned to appreciate music and emotions it can evoke in people and, therefore, has found appreciation for the musical leg of Rada.

“Every feeling that you have can be accompanied by a song and that’s why I love what Rada Unearthed is doing; because they are teaming up with human emotion – that trying spirit of doing something and failing and trying again and getting all the help that you can – [with music],” Mdoda said.

“That’s what they want to do across the country. They want to create safe houses across the country and make sure that every human emotion that is being felt, is also getting support.”

Nobrega explained how the principles of the music programme further perpetuate the principles of the initiative itself. “I love music – I think it’s an integral part of human life and within music, it empowers a lot of people. Rada has the principles of empowerment, and so Rada and Rada Unearthed send out that message.”

The music performed by all the artists on board falls under the theme of upliftment and empowerment, and each single will be released progressively throughout the year until the complete album is ready for launch.
